Man saying come on in.

This article would be worth your time if...
You own or work at a marketing agency that serves small/local businesses.
We'll dive into the top 6 Vendasta competitors and see how they stack up.
We'll be looking at their features, pricing, strengths, and weaknesses to help you decide which platform is the best fit for your agency.

But don't worry, I'm not here to bash Vendasta or Vendasta's competitors. It's about finding the right tools and strategies to help your agency thrive in an increasingly competitive market.

So sit back, grab a cup of coffee (or a glass of wine, I won't judge), and let's dive into the world of Vendasta alternatives. Who knows, you might just find your next go-to platform in the process.

We will cover the following topics:
If you're just itching to know which tool is the best for your agency, feel free to skip straight to the end. But if you want to consider of all your options, I suggest you look at all the top 6 Vendasta competitors. Just a suggestion from your friendly neighborhood writer.

What does Vendasta do anyway?
Vendasta website.

Vendasta tells you what they do on their website, but if you've gone through their website, you probably have questions.

I'm going to tell you what Vendasta offers in 4 simple points:

1. Subscriptions: Think of subscriptions as an entry point into the Vendasta world. You have to buy one to start selling anything with Vendasta.

2. Marketing products you can sell: There are hundreds of marketing & sales products you can buy from Vendasta and then resell to your clients. You can sell these products under your brand (white-label) or directly. If you buy a costlier subscription, you get a discount on products you buy from Vendasta.

3. Lead generation tools: Say you've bought a tool from the Vendasta marketplace and want to sell it, how do you get more clients? Vendasta offers email prospecting and lead-generation tools to help you get more customers.

4. Consulting & services: If you also need something done for you, like website design, or if you need advice on how to sell Vendasta's products to your clients, Vendasta provides consulting sessions and professional services. Btw, each "strategy" session with a Vendasta rep costs $150, yikes! (More on that later.)

Vendasta offers hundreds of tools and services. Then, why do you need to look at Vendasta competitors? Let's talk about that.

5 Reasons You Need to Look at Vendasta Competitors

You now have a fair idea of everything Vendasta does. Now let's look at everything that's wrong with Vendasta and why you need to look at Vendasta competitors. I'll use a restaurant analogy to explain this (can you tell I'm a foodie?)

❌ Vendasta pricing: You have to pay a subscription fee just to start using Vendasta. It's like you pay a fee just to enter a restaurant, sounds absurd, doesn't it? Subscription fees start from $40/mo and can go beyond $1000/mo.

❌ Annual contracts: Ohh btw, subscription fees double to $100/mo if you don't pay annually. Vendasta really wants you to get into annual contracts. Think of a restaurant asking you to pay for all the meals you'll eat in a year at once? Sounds really fishy!

❌ Onboarding fees: Vendasta charges onboarding fees regardless of the plan you pick, and you would need onboarding because it's difficult to figure out on your own. The fee ranges from $750 to $1500. Btw, this fee goes down to $0 if you get into an annual contract. Did I tell you Vendasta loves (read forces) annual contracts? See this GetApp review by a marketing agency owner.

“The implementation of Vendasta took a long time in our company and many users needed revised training from the team before we could adopt it as a company.” ― Smeetha S

❌ Their products are too expensive: Let's say you want to offer review management to your clients. It will cost you a whopping $300/month when you buy it from Vendasta. If you even want to make 50$ per client, you will have to sell it for 350$/month to your client. You're going to have a tough time selling it at 350$/month. It gets expensive quickly, see this Capterra review:

“The costs can add up quickly, so it is important to make sure that your margins can support the overhead. While there is definitely value in everything that is provided within the Vendasta dashboard, this can easily turn into one of an agency's most expensive outsourced costs.” ― Chris C

❌ Vendasta customer service: You pay Vendasta hundreds of dollars to get started on their platform and sell their products. Vendasta should help you get the most value out of their product. Instead, they make you pay for "strategy" sessions on how to make money using the platform. Vendasta makes you pay for basic customer service and onboarding, sigh!

There are better options available now which help you offer marketing services to your clients at a fraction of Vendasta's cost.
More importantly, there are teams behind these products that don't want you to get into predatory annual contracts and charge absurd fees for onboarding and good customer service.

Vendasta Alternative #1 - ReviewGain

ReviewGain website.

ReviewGain offers features so you can easily juggle between your clients.

How can ReviewGain help your clients?
ReviewGain's customer sentiment and feedback wordcloud feature.

Here's how ReviewGain will help your clients get an awesome online reputation and more paying customers:

  • It will help you get more reviews using automated SMS/Email review campaigns. And these messages are personalized for each customer so you don't annoy your customers and get high review rates.

ReviewGain Pricing
ReviewGain pricing plans.
When you become a ReviewGain partner agency, you'll get access to our platform at a fraction of the retail cost.
The 49$/month per client plan lets you add 10 locations/profiles for each client.
(compared to just 1 location in our retail plan)

The 59$/month per client package lets you manage up to 20 locations/profiles for each client.
(This plan costs 79$/month on retail)

If you need to set up a whitelabel platform, the fee is always 0$ :)

There are bulk discounts if you want to buy more than 5 seats (clients), you can contact them through the ReviewGain website to get a custom quote. If you're interested, you can the full ReviewGain whitelabel pricing.

ReviewGain Strengths
  • You get at least 1 review for every 3 customers you ask with our smart review campaigns. They work like magic!
  •
  • ReviewGain's affordable prices are perfect for agencies looking to maintain a healthy margin.
  •
  • Pay per client, not per location - no matter how many locations they have! Other tools charge per location, but not ReviewGain.
  •
  • Our onboarding is simple, personal, and free. You'll be ready in less than 2 days!
  •
  • The sentiment word cloud helps you understand what people are feeling about your client.
  •
  • Reputation marketing that converts the reviews into sales.

ReviewGain Weaknesses
  • ReviewGain isn't a marketplace: While Vendasta offers hundreds of tools you can buy and sell to your customers, ReviewGain won't help you buy other tools.
  • It isn't a complete Local SEO tool (yet!), because it doesn't offer features like citation building which helps you list your business on 100s of local directories.

Is it a good Vendasta alternative for marketing agencies?

Certainly YES!
ReviewGain is a simple and affordable tool that gets your local business clients more reviews and more customers. If you want to offer reputation management services to your clients, ReviewGain is the tool for you.

Also, great customer support and monthly subscriptions give you the flexibility a small-medium marketing agency needs.

Vendasta Alternative #2 - Birdeye

Birdeye website.

Birdeye is a reputation and listings management tool. Vendasta vs Birdeye has been a hot debate since Birdeye has been one of the biggest Vendasta competitors since 2012, let's settle that here.

It's a good Vendasta competitor if your clients are corporates or big multi-location businesses. It's a great tool to manage 100s of listings in one location.

Free trial
Birdeye generously offers a 15-day trial but you need your email and phone number to sign up.

Birdeye for Agencies
Birdeye's agency page on their website.

Birdeye offers 2 different partner programs for agencies, let's talk about each one.

If you want to sell the tool to your clients...
You can get into the Birdeye reseller program. You get:
  • Tech support by Birdeye
  • Growth Initiatives - Think of them as a counseling session on how to sell and grow your revenue with Birdeye.
  • Greylabel - You can resell Birdeye under their brand.
  • Whitelabel - This is only available above the $5000/month subscription.

If you want to refer clients to Birdeye...
You can get into a "Strategic Alliances" with Birdeye. Complex name, let me explain what you get when you enroll:
  • Co-selling - Basically Birdeye helps you sell the tool to your clients.
  • Referral fees - You get a cut for each client you refer to Birdeye.

How can Birdeye help your clients?
Before you start selling/referring Birdeye to your clients, let's see how Birdeye can help your clients:

  • Listings management: You can easily manage and publish data to 50+ review sites in one place.
  •
  • Get more reviews: Birdeye helps you run automated SMS/Email campaigns asking for reviews.
  •
  • Webchat And All-In-One Inbox: Text your website visitors instead of the boring live chat. And get all your conversations across text and social media in one place so you don't need to juggle multiple inboxes.
  •
  • Surveys/Insights/Team Chat:These features are useless for most agencies. These features are built for enterprises.
  •

Birdeye Pricing
Birdeye retail pricing plans.
Birdeye charges subscription fees (~5000$/month) like Vendasta to make you a Whitelabel partner. But they provide custom quotes for all agencies. We can still discuss the retail pricing to get an idea:

The starter plan costs a whopping 299$/month for listings and review management.

The pro plan is 399$/month which also helps you track your website visitors' journey.

The premium plan includes corporate features, which wouldn't be too useful for agencies.

If you're curious about Birdeye pricing and want the full scoop, check out my Birdeye pricing 101 article. It's got everything you need to know, and nothing you don't (except maybe some bad puns, but hey, they're worth it).

Birdeye Strengths
  • It's a great tool if your client has 50+ locations and you need to manage them from a single tool.
  • The All-in-one Inbox brings all the customer conversations in one place so you never miss a conversation.
  • The team chat feature helps big teams collaborate better.

Birdeye Weaknesses
  • Feel the pinch: Their lowest retail plan sets you back a cool 300 bucks. Good luck trying to convince your clients to splurge on that. And if you want a fancy whitelabel platform, be prepared to shell out a whopping 5000 dollars a month for Birdeye.
  •
  • Rough onboarding: Their onboarding process is outsourced and basically a maze. You're on your own!
  •
  • Not designed for local businesses: Birdeye is built for small businesses and large corporates, that's why the interface is confusing for local businesses.
  •
  • Atrocious customer support: You don't get to talk to a rep on the phone although email support is decent. Oh, and they love trapping you in annual contracts with a painful cancellation process.

Is it a good Vendasta alternative for marketing agencies?

Probably no. Here's why:
First, it's confusing for small-medium businesses. You and your clients would have a steep learning curve with the platform.

Second, they are too pricey. You need to pay 5000$/month just to get access to their whitelabel platform.

All of this combined with not-so-great customer support, it's a NO from me. (Reminds you of X-factor?)

If you want to see other tools similar to Birdeye but designed for small businesses, I recently wrote about the top 7 Birdeye alternatives.

Vendasta Alternative #3 - GradeUs

GradeUs website.
GradeUs is a review management tool aimed at agencies and small businesses.

GradeUs and ReviewGain are the only tools on this list that are specifically designed for local businesses and agencies.

Free trial
They have a 14-day trial, and you can get started with just your email.

GradeUs for Agencies
GradeUs agency page on their website.

GradeUs offers a complete whitelabel for agencies and marketing consultants.

If you want to offer a whitelabel platform to your clients...
You get:
  • Whitelabel Review reports you can share with your clients
  • Whitelabel pitch decks and videos
  • Whitelabel review alerts
  • Whitelabel dashboards to show your clients - you need to pay extra for this.

How can GradeUs help your clients?
GradeUs will help your local business clients:

  • Get more and better reviews: They help you send email and text review request campaigns.
  •
  • Market reviews: Automatically stream reviews to your website and social media.
  •
  • Understand customer sentiment: They provide easy-to-understand sentiment analysis so you get actionable tips on how to improve.
  •

GradeUs Pricing
GradeUs agency pricing plans.

Fortunately, GradeUs provides clear pricing for agencies, let's dive in:

The Solo plan is 110$/month. This plan is meant for single-location businesses or if you have just 1 client.

The Professional plan costs 180$/month. It gets you 3 seats at 60$/month per client and basic whitelabel reporting.

The "Agency" plan is 400$/month and comes out to be 40$/month per client. You can also get a complete whitelabel tool that your clients can directly use for an extra 440$/year.

The Partner plan is priced at 2500$/month which is 25$/month per client. You get the whitelabel tool for free in this plan.

You need to pay an extra 5 cents for each SMS review request too.

GradeUs Strengths
  • It's offers a complete whitelabel tool for marketing agencies.
  • Review marketing features to help you make money using your reviews.

GradeUs Weaknesses
  • Whitelabel setup fee: GradeUs charges almost ~500$/year for setting up the whitelabel platform in their 400$/month plan. Other Vendasta competitors like ReviewGain provide all the same features with a free whitelabel setup at just 59$/month.
  •
  • You can't get access to the complete whitelabel tool unless you buy at least 10 seats. ReviewGain builds a whitelabel platform for you even if you buy 1 seat.
  •
  • Extra charge for SMS: They charge 5 cents extra for each text review request.
  •
  • No auto-suggested response feature to help you quickly reply to all the reviews.

Is it a good Vendasta alternative for marketing agencies?

Probably yes.
GradeUs is a great tool for reputation management and it has good whitelabel features for agencies.

But they charge almost 500$ for a simple whitelabel setup and extra for each SMS. I get a feeling they are trying to squeeze every last dollar out of you for their investors (yes, they have investors!).

There are other Vendasta alternatives like ReviewGain which offer exactly the same features as GradeUs but much more affordable. Still I think you can check out the GradeUs free trial.

Vendasta Alternative #4 - Brightlocal

Brightlocal website.

Brightlocal is a local SEO tool offering features like citation building and local rank tracking.

Free trial
Like most other tools on this list, they also offer a 14-day trial.

Brightlocal for Agencies
Brightlocal's agency page on their website showing their whitelabel features.

Being a Vendasta competitor, Brightlocal offers whitelabeled SEO tools for agencies.

If you want to offer local SEO tools to your clients...
You get:
  • Custom SEO reports - Whitelabel reporting with your logo
  • Automated whitelabeled reports mailed directly to your clients

How can Brightlocal help your clients?
Brightlocal will help your local business clients:

  • Build lots of citations: By listing your website on 50+ local directories.
  •
  • Keep a tab on your rank: Brightlocal tracks your rank on Local Search.
  •
  • Run review campaigns: You can send review requests via SMS/Email.
  •
Brightlocal Pricing
Brightlocal pricing plans for agencies.

Brightlocal has a weird credits system, I would try my best to explain:

The Single Business Plan costs 29$/month. You get some credits when you buy this plan. For example, you get 1 Local SEO Audit report, and 1 Get Reviews campaign. You can only do 1 of these each month, you can buy extra credits when you need them.

The Multi Business plan is 49$/month. You get roughly double the credits for everything and also basic whitelabel reporting.

The SEO pro plan is 79$/month for 1 client. I believe this is the ideal plan for agencies since it offers complete whitelabel and enough credits. You would be able to run 20 Local SEO Audits and 5 Review campaigns per month. You would need to run 3-4 Review campaigns per month for a client.

You need to pay extra for citation building. The rate is ~3$ for each site.

Sidenote, have you ever wondered how your online reputation affects your SEO? If you have, I think you'll find my SEO reputation management blog really interesting.

Brightlocal Strengths
  • Brightlocal's citation building and local rank tracking features are top-notch.
  • It is quite affordable for local businesses and agencies serving local businesses.

Brightlocal Weaknesses
  • Missing review management features: Brightlocal snoozes on the job! They don't watch your reviews 24/7 and forget to wake you up for new ones.
  •
  • Brightlocal's credit system can be confusing and frustrating - especially for those on lower plans. Customers are constantly worried about running out, it's like a never-ending game of credit chicken!
  •
  • Dicey citations: Customers have reported that Brightlocal sometimes creates inaccurate citations.

Is it a good Vendasta alternative for marketing agencies?

Yes.
It's a solid Vendasta competitor that will help you offer whitelabeled SEO services.

It's also priced quite affordably. The only hiccup here is using more than allowed credits and ending up paying more than you think.

While there are some missing review features, it's a decent tool overall and definitely worth a look.

If you like both Brightlocal and ReviewGain, I recently wrote a comparison article between Brightlocal vs Yext vs ReviewGain. You might want to take a look at this.

Vendasta Alternative #5 - Podium

Podium website.

Podium is the 5th Vendasta competitor we will talk about today. It's an all-in-one tool for small businesses with a focus on everything SMS. Its website chat feature is really popular among local businesses.

If you do SMS sales and marketing for your clients, you should look at this!

Free trial
Podium offers a no-questions-asked 14-day trial, you just need your email to sign up.

Podium for Agencies
Podium agency page on their website showing their Partner Program.

Podium runs a Partner Program with 3 variations. You can either sell Podium directly, offer services using Podium, or be an "alliance" partner. Let's quickly talk about each one.

If you want to sell Podium to your clients...
You can become a Podium "Solutions Partner". You get:
  • To sell Podium as a SaaS tool to your clients.
  • Greylabel - It's not clear if Podium offers a complete whitelabel program, but you can sell the tool under their brand.

If you want to use Podium to offer services to your clients...
You can become a "Services Partner":
  • Podium integrates with your CRM and existing tools.
  • You can start offering SMS marketing and sales with Podium to differentiate from the competition.

If you want to offer your services to existing Podium customers...
Join the 'Alliance Partner' program and get paid for your expertise... if you can find out how much Podium pays. Suspicious much?

How can Podium help your clients?
Podium helps you get reviews and easily text your customers, here's a quick summary:

  • Review generation: Helps you get more reviews using SMS/Email campaigns.
  •
  • Text your customers: You can use Podium webchat to easily chat with your customers through SMS and also run text marketing campaigns.
  •
  • Payments: Ask for payments by text rather than email invoices which easily get lost.
  •

Podium Pricing
Podium retail pricing plans.

Podium doesn't make any of its agency plans public. But their retail prices are available, so you can get a sense of how much Podium will cost you per client:

Similar to Birdeye, the Podium Essentials plan (the lowest plan) is almost 300$/month. You/Your clients get webchat, text marketing, and payment features in this one.

The Standard plan costs 450$/month. They will give you personalized onboarding (they don't offer this in the lower plan). You also get your own branding on some Podium reports and tools. And you also get access to review features.

The pro plan is 650$/month and useless for most agencies. Your clients definitely wouldn't care for lead routing and automated FAQs, trust me.

If you're still scratching your head over Podium's pricing, I feel you. But never fear, you can head over to my latest Podium pricing blog, it will clear up all the confusion!

Podium Strengths
  • Podium's text marketing and webchat features are the best in class.
  • Podium inbox lets you message customers on all platforms directly through their chat.
  • They also do corporate analytics like NPS and traffic.

Podium Weaknesses
  • It costs an arm and a leg: Their starter plan is a whopping $300/month and doesn't even include review campaign features. Better start practicing your sales pitch for those sticker-shocked clients.
  •
  • Yearly contracts: Like Vendasta and Birdeye, they force you into annual contracts and charge subscription fees to get become an agency partner. Btw, I pitched Birdeye and Podium head on in my Birdeye vs Podium blog, might be worth a look if you're considering both these tools.
  •
  • Horrible customer support: Trying to cancel Podium is a nightmare and their response time is so slow that they might not get back to you for weeks.

Hey, listen! I've written this Podium review that breaks down all the good and bad bits. Check it out if you wanna know the top 3 pros and worst 5 cons.

Is it a good Vendasta alternative for marketing agencies?

Maybe not. That's because:
Podium may be good for reviews and text marketing, but you need to watch out for their predatory annual contracts and subpar customer support. Just like any big company.

Also paying more than 500$/month for a review management and texting tool doesn't make sense to me. You're better off looking at other Vendasta alternatives especially if you own a local agency.

If you like Podium's features but not their price tag, you might be interested in the top 7 Podium alternatives blog.

Vendasta Alternative #6 - Yext

Yext website.

Yext is a listings + review management tool designed for small-medium businesses and marketing agencies.

If you want to manage the listings for multiple locations, this might be the one for you.

Free trial
Unfortunately, Yext doesn't offer a free trial, but they do have a free health scan for your business. It's like a check-up to see how your listings are doing.

Yext for Agencies
Yext agency page on their website showing the Yext Partner Program.

If you want to re-sell Yext to your clients...
  • Yext offers a reseller partner program for agencies and consultants to resell their solutions to small business customers.
  •
  • You can even white-label their tool, which means you can put your own brand on listing scans and analytics to impress your clients.
  •
  • If you're a big shot agency with 100+ clients, you can become a Certified Reseller Partner and enjoy discounts ranging from 20-50% based on your client count.
  •
  • And hey, even if you're a small agency owner, you can still grab up to 10% discounts on retail plans.

How can Yext help your clients?
  • Yext's extensive directory network is a huge advantage for businesses, as it helps expand their reach and boost their SEO.
  • Managing listings across different platforms can be time-consuming, but Yext simplifies the process by centralizing and streamlining listing management.
  • Yext also provides review monitoring and notifications, allowing businesses to stay on top of their online reputation by receiving alerts whenever new reviews are posted.

Yext Pricing
Yext retail pricing plans.

Alright, let's talk money. Yext has four different plans: Emerging, Essential, Complete, and Premium.

The Emerging Starter Package costs $199/year but has limited listings and doesn't even include Google, so it's not worth subscribing to.

The Essential Plus Package at $449/year gets you listed on top platforms like Google, Facebook, Bing, and Yelp. But beware, it only allows one-off updates, and they charge you every year.

The Complete Standard Package for $499/year offers a comprehensive range of listings, including those in the Essential Plus Package, and provides access to Yext Powelistings for accurate data publishing.

The Premium Advanced Package at $999/year includes all features from previous packages, along with extras like review monitoring and website widgets.

If you're confused about Yext's pricing, I feel you. If you want to understand it better, you can jump over to my recent Yext cost guide for 2023 blog!

Yext Strengths
  • Yext has an extensive directory network that helps businesses expand their reach and improve their SEO.
  • The platform simplifies and centralizes listing management, saving businesses time and effort in maintaining accurate and consistent listings.
  • Review monitoring and notifications allow businesses to stay on top of their online reputation by receiving alerts for new reviews.

Yext Weaknesses
  • Now, let's shine a light on Yext's not-so-super moments. First off, their onboarding process and user interface is diffcult and not intiuitive.
  •
  • Customer support is another weak spot for Yext. Calling Yext support for help means you're getting stuck with someone who doesn't know what they're talking about. Unhelpful resources and confusing jargon add to the problem.
  •
  • Yext is way more expensive compared to other alternatives. Plus, they enforce annual contracts, which limits your flexibility and ability to cancel.
  •
  • Yext focuses on review monitoring and response, but it lacks the ability to generate more reviews. Getting more reviews is crucial for local SEO, so this is definitely a downside.
If you're interested in an in-depth Yext review that covers costs, pros, cons, review management and Yext Powerlistings feature, you might want to check out my 2023 Yext review blog.

Is it a good Vendasta alternative for marketing agencies?

In short, no.
Yext has its strengths, but it also has serious issues that make it a bad choice.

Yext's difficulties in usability, poor customer support, and expensive pricing with annual contracts outweigh any benefits it may offer.

If you like Yext's listings + review management features but not their customer support and price tag, you might be interested in the top 8 Yext alternatives blog.

Best Vendasta Alternative for a
Small-Medium Marketing Agency

Tom Hanks thinking about the best reputation management software for local marketing agency.

Let's do a quick recap of everything we discussed and see which Vendasta competitor would work best for you.

We talked about what Vendasta does and where it falls short.

Then we went through the top 6 Vendasta alternatives, here's a quick summary:

👉 ReviewGain: The complete reputation management tool tailored towards marketing agencies serving local businesses. Provides free whitelabel and a per seat cost of just 59$/month.

👉 Birdeye: A good listings and review management tool. Too pricey for agencies with whitelabel starting at $5000/month.

👉 GradeUs: Another great review management tool for agencies. It's affordable at just 60$/month but charges 500$/year in whitelabel setup fee.

👉 Brightlocal: A good tool you can use to offer Local SEO to your clients. Prices start at just 29$/month but beware of the credits system.

👉 Podium: The best SMS marketing and sales tool on this list. But too expensive with plans starting at 300$/month. Also doesn't provide a complete whitelabel solution for agencies.

👉 Yext: A listings + review management tool. But with atrocious customer support and forced expensive annual contracts, also doesn't help you get more reviews.

I hope I was able to give you the low-down on the best Vendasta competitors. If you're a marketing agency owner I would suggest ReviewGain, it will help your clients get 10-15 new reviews each month, help handle bad reviews, and boost their visibility online.
